I have been running niche blogs since 2009 and over that time I have seen huge changes in the content creation landscape.

However, let’s be honest, you aren’t here for a history lesson on what has and hasn’t worked during the last 15 years. You are here to find out what’s working now.

People often ask me if it’s too late to start a blog. They asked me that back in 2010 and they still ask me now. I always say no. People are hungry for content and while there are billions more blog posts available now than there were back in 2009, there is still room for you to make your mark.

However, what I will say is that while people can earn a lot of money with a blog, particularly if you monetize with an ad network like Mediavine, add affiliate links, or even sell your own products, blogging is no walk in the park. You need to niche down, pivot regularly because things change all the time, be prepared for Google updates that can cost you a lot of traffic, and be willing to put the work in week after week after week.
